British Triathlon and Kit Revolution launch dedicated KitHub to widen access and extend the life of sports kit

08 September 2026

British Triathlon and Kit Revolution have launched a dedicated online KitHub designed to make triathlon kit more affordable and accessible while extending the life of sports equipment.

British Triathlon and Kit Revolution launch dedicated KitHub to widen access and extend the life of sports kit

Developed by Kit Revolution, the British Triathlon KitHub enables clubs, members and participants to buy, sell, swap and donate pre-loved kit through one dedicated platform. It brings together participation, social impact and circular economy principles, while providing British Triathlon with a structured and scalable approach to kit reuse..

Tackling the cost of participation

The initiative addresses one of the increasingly important challenges facing sport: the rising cost of participation.

Triathlon can require significant investment in kit and apparel, while considerable quantities of sports kit remain unused despite still being in good condition. KitHub aims to connect these two challenges by making it easier for kit and apparel to find a second life within the triathlon community.

Eve Joseph, Head of Social Impact for British Triathlon, said the collaboration represented a shared ambition to extend the life of pre-loved kit and apparel while reducing financial barriers.

“The collaboration reflects a shared ambition to extend the life of unused and pre-loved triathlon kit, reduce financial obstacles for participants, and embed circular economy principles in the sport,” she said.

“By enabling kit reuse at scale, we’re taking a positive step towards reducing unnecessary waste and making better use of the resources already within our community.”

From unused kit to environmental impact

There is an important environmental dimension too. British Triathlon points to research suggesting that keeping clothing in use for an additional nine months can reduce its carbon, water and waste footprint by up to 30%.

Around 50 items had already been uploaded ahead of the launch, including kit and apparel donated by British Triathlon athletes.

Official kit from athletes, events, volunteering, training programmes and previous seasons will also be redistributed through KitHub rather than potentially going to waste.

Claire Moffat, Founder of Kit Revolution, said: “The British Triathlon KitHub demonstrates what can be achieved when a sporting organisation embeds structured reuse into the way it supports its community.”

“By providing the digital infrastructure to buy, sell, swap and donate kit in one dedicated place, we’re helping unlock the value of existing kit, make participation more accessible and extend the useful life of quality sportswear.” she added.
“Our ambition is to make this approach simple, measurable and scalable for sporting organisations across every discipline”

A Model Designed for Sport

The British Triathlon KitHub forms part of Kit Revolution’s wider ambition to provide sports organisations with the infrastructure needed to introduce structured kit reuse at scale.
Rather than relying solely on occasional collection campaigns or informal exchanges, dedicated KitHubs create an ongoing digital destination through which surplus and pre-loved kit can be recirculated. The model can accommodate kit contributed by individuals, clubs, athletes, events and sporting organisations, while also creating opportunities to generate funds for charitable and community programmes.”

Supporting the Triathlon Trust

KitHub also creates a direct connection between circularity and social impact. Users selling kit and apparel can choose to donate their proceeds to the Triathlon Trust, which supports people and communities facing barriers to becoming active.

Steve Rice, Chair of the Triathlon Trust, said the funds would help the organisation “continue our work to change lives through swim, bike and run”, while supporting communities and opening opportunities for people facing the greatest barriers to participation.

“It is a strong example of how the triathlon community can come together in a practical and purposeful way,” he added.

Connecting sustainability with participation

The initiative provides an interesting example of how sports organisations can connect environmental sustainability with wider social objectives. Rather than viewing kit and apparel reuse solely through the lens of waste reduction, KitHub links circularity directly to affordability, accessibility and participation.

That approach is also reflected in British Triathlon’s wider sustainability and purpose performance. The national governing body currently sits just outside the Global Top 50 in the Global Sustainable Sport SPI Index and ranks fifth among UK national sports federations.

KitHub has the potential to strengthen that position by demonstrating how relatively simple interventions can deliver across several areas simultaneously: reducing waste, lowering the financial barriers to participation, supporting community programmes and encouraging the sporting community itself to become part of the solution.

For British Triathlon and Kit Revolution, the ambition is straightforward: extend the useful life of more kit, reduce the financial barriers surrounding participation and help more people access swim, bike and run. More broadly, the partnership offers a practical blueprint for how structured kit reuse could be adopted across sport.
