Seahawks and Coca-Cola Launch Challenge to Find Seattle’s Greenest Fan
The Seattle Seahawks have teamed up with The Coca-Cola Company to launch the "Go The Extra Yard Challenge," a four-week environmental competition kicking off on October 13, 2025. The initiative invites the team's famously passionate fanbase, the 12s, to compete for exclusive prizes by completing everyday sustainable actions. The ultimate goal is to find and crown the Seahawks' greenest fan.

How the Challenge Works
Fans can participate by signing up at GoTheExtraYard.com and earning “green points” for dozens of eco-friendly activities. To score points, participants simply upload a photo of themselves completing a task, such as recycling a Coca-Cola bottle, eating a meat-free meal, carpooling to Lumen Field, or cutting energy use at home.
The campaign, which ends on November 9, 2025, aims to show how small, individual actions can collectively create a significant positive impact. As Christy Briggs, Seattle Seahawks Sustainability Lead, states, “The Go The Extra Yard Challenge shows that small, everyday choices, like recycling your bottle or biking to the game, really can add up to a big impact”.

Prizes and Incentives
A host of exclusive prizes are on offer to encourage participation. The fan who accumulates the most green points over the four weeks will win tickets to the Seahawks vs Rams game on December 18th, complete with pre-game field passes. Other top prizes include signed jerseys from players like Kenneth Walker and Jarran Reed.
Additional rewards are available through weekly competitions and prize draws for completing specific actions. Prizes include $100 gift cards, replica helmets, and autographed footballs from players such as Boye Mafe and Coby Bryant.
"Working with the Seahawks allows us to engage football fans directly and highlight how they can play their part in the recycling process".
A Partnership for the Planet
This initiative is part of a wider commitment to sustainability from both the Seahawks and Coca-Cola. Lumen Field is a recognised leader in sustainable practices, having recently won the 2025 Green Sports Alliance Waste Champion Award. For Coca-Cola, the partnership aligns with its global goal of reducing packaging waste by engaging consumers directly in the recycling process.
Alex Nicolaou, Director of Sustainable Operations at Coca-Cola, commented, “Working with the Seahawks allows us to engage football fans directly and highlight how they can play their part in the recycling process”.
"The Go The Extra Yard Challenge is a fun way to get involved, and I can't wait to see fans stepping up to show they're the greenest in Seattle"
The creative studio behind the campaign is Rolling Green, driven by Tom Gribbin, formerly co-founder of Planet League.
Seahawks Legend and EcoAthlete Garry Gilliam also endorsed the campaign, encouraging fans to get involved. “I’ve always loved supporting the Hawks, and now I get to support the planet too,” Gilliam said. “The Go The Extra Yard Challenge is a fun way to get involved, and I can’t wait to see fans stepping up to show they’re the greenest in Seattle”.
