Rocket Arena launches new sustainability platform ‘REGreen’ as part of Rock Entertainment Group’s vision for a greener future

31 October 2025

Rock Entertainment Group (REG) and Rocket Arena have unveiled a refreshed online sustainability hub, REGreen, showcasing the organisation’s growing commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and community impact across Rocket Arena and beyond.

Rocket Arena launches new sustainability platform ‘REGreen’ as part of Rock Entertainment Group’s vision for a greener future

The new website section, available at rocketarena.com/green, brings together the full scope of Rock Entertainment Group’s sustainability strategy, from waste diversion and sustainable sourcing to community engagement and fan education, marking another significant step in the arena’s ongoing journey to integrate sustainability across every aspect of its operations.

Turning ambition into action

The launch of REGreen highlights Rocket Arena’s transition from discrete environmental initiatives to a comprehensive, data-driven sustainability framework.
The programme is structured around four strategic focus areas:

  • Materials Management
  • Responsible Resource Stewardship
  • Revenue Generation and Partnerships
  • Engagement and Education

These pillars underpin a clear vision for the next decade: to make sustainability “second nature” at Rocket Arena and across the wider Rock Entertainment Group ecosystem. As the new platform outlines, this means ensuring the well-being of the community by investing in environmental stewardship, social impact, innovation, and economic activity.

The results so far have been impressive. During the 2024–2025 season, Rocket Arena composted 181,240 pounds of food waste, an increase of more than 50% from the previous year. The arena also achieved a 20% landfill diversion rate and introduced bamboo retail bags made from 100% FSC-certified bamboo, a renewable material that produces more oxygen and absorbs significantly more carbon dioxide than trees.

Complementing these initiatives, the Cavaliers launched a limited-edition retail line made from fully traceable organic cotton, produced locally in Cleveland. “Made in Cleveland. By Clevelanders. For Clevelanders,” the campaign proudly declares.

Driving change through collaboration

For Danielle Doza, Vice President of Sustainability and Environmental Services at the Cleveland Cavaliers, the website relaunch and the broader REGreen platform symbolise the progress the organisation has made and the partnerships that underpin it.

“Rocket Arena takes great pride in the progress we’ve made toward our sustainability mission,” said Doza. “We’ve invested in major facility upgrades, built meaningful partnerships and continue to create positive impacts for our team members and the community. Our team is working to integrate sustainability across all areas of Rock Entertainment Group – from environmental services and procurement to fan experiences and partnership strategies. We look forward to continuing to drive meaningful change in our neighbourhood and throughout Northeast Ohio.”

Rocket Arena’s sustainability efforts are supported by an active Sustainability Squad, a cross-departmental team of more than 20 members co-chaired by Doza and Hansen Coseo, the organisation’s Director of Procurement and Project Services. The Squad plays a central role in developing strategy, fostering employee engagement, and embedding sustainable practices into everyday operations.

Partnerships also play a pivotal role. Rocket Arena’s collaboration with WM, an official sustainability partner, has helped transform operations across the organisation, from waste management to data-driven efficiency improvements. Together, they’ve implemented Onvation® Smart Restroom Technology, which uses real-time monitoring to reduce waste and improve resource management.

These kinds of innovations, Doza notes, are examples of how sustainability can drive operational excellence as well as environmental progress.

Recognition from industry leaders

Rocket Arena’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. The venue received 23 GOAL Medals from the Green Operations and Advanced Leadership (GOAL) network in 2025, including six Golds and six Silvers, for achievements such as promoting health and wellbeing, prioritising diverse suppliers, increasing waste diversion, and advancing recycling and composting initiatives.

GOAL, which celebrates sustainability in sports, music and entertainment, commended Rocket Arena and the Cleveland Cavaliers for turning “ambition into action” and for their leadership in raising the standard for sustainability in sports venues.

Rocket Arena and the Cavaliers are also proud members of the Green Sports Alliance (GSA), a nonprofit organisation leveraging the cultural influence of sport to promote healthy, sustainable communities. Their case study is featured in the GSA’s Revenue Generation Playbook, showcasing how sustainability and business performance can go hand in hand.

Engaging fans and community

Beyond operations, REGreen highlights how Rocket Arena is using its platform to educate fans and inspire sustainable behaviour. The site encourages visitors to take part in the sustainability journey — from reusing bamboo bags to learning about energy efficiency and waste reduction.

The Engagement and Education pillar focuses on influencing fan behaviour towards more sustainable choices, while the Revenue and Partnerships area underscores how collaboration with sponsors, suppliers, and local businesses can generate shared value for people and the planet.

In her internal announcement of the new platform, Doza expressed gratitude to colleagues across Rock Entertainment Group who helped shape the initiative.

“We are excited to share our updated site featuring our sustainability strategy and efforts at Rock Entertainment Group and Rocket Arena,” she said. “REGreen is our initial branding and platform to share our story. We will continue to build on this work and refine the messaging and brand.”

A model for sustainable sports venues

As arenas and sports organisations worldwide seek to decarbonise and demonstrate their social and environmental impact, Rocket Arena’s REGreen platform sets a powerful example of transparency and innovation. By embedding sustainability into its culture, operations, and partnerships, Rock Entertainment Group is showing how sports and entertainment can lead the way in shaping a more sustainable future.

With measurable progress, strong community engagement, and leadership from figures like Danielle Doza, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Arena are proving that sustainability in sport is not just a goal — it’s a game plan for the future.
