Vipers join hands with RAW Coffee Company for season
10 October 2025 – Cricket
The Desert Vipers cricket team has partnered with Dubai’s RAW Coffee Company for the fourth season of the DP World ILT20. This two-year agreement appoints RAW Coffee as the Official Supplier and Coffee Partner, providing a barista and coffee machine at the team hotel. The partnership aims to enhance both team spirit and athletic performance through a specially formulated drink. RAW Coffee, known for ethical sourcing and coffee training, hosted players at its Al Quoz café. Both Desert Vipers CEO Phil Oliver and RAW Coffee CEO Matt Toogood emphasise shared values of sustainability and community in this meaningful collaboration.
Athens to host the 2026 UCI Bike City and Mobility Forum

The UCI has announced that the UCI Bike City and Mobility Forum 2026 will occur in Athens, Greece, on 17-18 May 2026. This annual conference aims to promote sustainable mobility and cycling’s contribution to global sustainable development, gathering transport and cycling communities, UCI network representatives, and industry experts. The 2026 edition, in collaboration with Kyvernitis Travel Group, will include workshops, cycling events, and a gala unveiling UCI award winners. Athens’ mayor, Haris Doukas, emphasised the city’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility and infrastructure, aligning with their “15-minute city” strategy. More details will be available on the UCI website soon.
Formula E advances ‘could bring ultra-fast charging in five years’

Formula E has introduced an “ultra-fast” pit boost technology, allowing cars to receive a 600KW charge, replenishing 10% of their battery in 30 seconds during pit stops. Julia Palle of Formula E predicts that similar fast-charging technology could be available for regular electric vehicles within five years, particularly in major cities. This advancement is seen as a potential solution to the current lack of infrastructure for mainstream electric vehicles. Since its 2014 inception, Formula E has moved away from standardised cars to encourage technological innovation, aiming to influence road vehicle technology development and reshape transportation.
Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Arena Team Up with Kimberly-Clark Professional

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Arena have announced a new partnership with Kimberly-Clark Professional, making them an official sustainability partner. The collaboration will see the first-ever deployment of Onvation® Smart Restroom Technology in Cleveland, which uses real-time monitoring to alert staff when supplies are low. This initiative, along with new touchless dispensers and high-efficiency hygiene products, aims to reduce waste and enhance the fan experience. The partnership also extends into the community, with a joint volunteer clean-up event planned for a future date
Héctor Bellerín receives the BBC Green Sport Award

Formula E wins BBC Green Sport Award

Formula E has won the Pioneer Award at the BBC Green Sport Awards 2025, recognising its leadership in sustainable motorsport. Since its 2014 debut, Formula E has been net zero and was the first sport with SBTi-validated emissions targets. The series introduced the recyclable GEN3 race car and achieved zero waste events using renewable energy. In 2025, it launched ‘PIT BOOST,’ an ultra-fast charging strategy. The championship is the first sport to receive BSI’s Net Zero Pathway certification, emphasising genuine carbon reduction. Formula E’s innovations set a global standard in sustainability, influencing both the automotive industry and global sport.
International Golf Federation Unveils Sustainability Vision for 2025 World Amateur Team Championships

The International Golf Federation (IGF) and the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) have announced sustainability initiatives for the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships (WATC), hosted at Singapore’s Tanah Merah Country Club. These initiatives, part of the IGF Sustainability Roadmap, were developed with Sustainable Golf to model environmental responsibility in sports. A detailed sustainability report will be published in December, outlining the event’s environmental impact and effectiveness of the measures implemented. The initiatives highlight IGF’s commitment to sustainable golf. According to Antony Scanlon, Executive Director of IGF, this demonstrates how major sporting events can promote environmental stewardship.
Green Sports Alliance Announces the Bill Walton Global Sustainability Champion Award

The Green Sports Alliance has launched the Bill Walton Global Sustainability Champion Award to honour individuals demonstrating exceptional leadership in environmental and social sustainability through sports. Announced at the 2025 Green Sports Alliance Summit in Miami by board member Jamie Zaninovich, the award pays tribute to Walton, a Hall of Fame basketball player and activist, for his profound impact on climate action and social equity. Walton was celebrated for using his platform to inspire positive change. The award will be given annually, and the first recipient will be recognised at the 2026 Summit in Cleveland, focusing on resilience in sports sustainability.
From composting to solar panels, NFL stadiums are working to be more sustainable

Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia exemplifies sustainability efforts among NFL stadiums, featuring solar panels that provide 40% of its energy and recycling programmes that processed 18 tons of aluminium in 2024. During games, fans use recyclable aluminium cups and interact with installations like a Lombardi Trophy made from recycled plastic. The stadium initiative aims to inspire fans to adopt sustainable practices at home. Similarly, Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium diverts 90% of its waste from landfills, boasting features like a rainwater cistern and a solar panel array. These efforts, part of the NFL’s broader sustainability programme, promote eco-friendly behaviour among fans and communities.
ISU Council Meeting takes new bold decisions on Sport Innovation and Global Development

The International Skating Union (ISU) Council Meeting took place for the first time at the new Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, focusing on innovation and global growth within ice skating. Over two days, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to ISU Vision 2030, prioritising skaters and setting strategic transformation goals, especially for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. ISU President Jae Youl Kim highlighted progress in initiatives like increased prize money and athlete protection. The ISU aims to modernise and strengthen the sport, ensuring it remains dynamic and accessible. Further discussions are planned for the year’s end to continue this momentum.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Tampere awarded WWF Finland sustainability label as the first-ever event

The FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Tampere has become the first event in Finland to receive WWF Finland’s new sustainability label for sports and events. This label encompasses environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and good governance, filling a long-standing industry need for clear sustainability criteria. EuroBasket 2025 prioritises emissions reduction by promoting public transport use, with event tickets including travel rights, and volunteers receiving transport passes. Circular economy principles guide waste management, and the venue, Nokia Arena, offers extensive sustainability measures. The event also emphasises social responsibility through an inclusive volunteer programme. By December 2025, the label will be available to all sports or events organisations.

Women in Football’s 2025 survey reveals endemic discrimination in the football industry, citing ineffective reporting systems and a problematic workplace culture. 78% of female respondents reported gender-based discrimination, while 63.5% faced sexist behaviour. A significant portion of discrimination incidents remain unreported due to distrust in processes or fear of retaliation. Online abuse has increased, especially among underrepresented ethnic groups. Despite these issues, 77% of women remain optimistic about progress. The organisation is committed to fostering a more inclusive environment, urging industry-wide action and legislative engagement to address systemic exclusion, recognising intersectionality as crucial for meaningful change.
