Envision Racing unveils new livery to drive Sundarbans restoration
Envision Racing has unveiled a new livery for its Formula E cars, using the global stage of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to spotlight a major mangrove restoration project in India. Timed to coincide with Earth Day, the initiative will support the planting of 500,000 mangrove saplings in the climate-vulnerable Sundarbans region.
The campaign reflects a growing trend in motorsport, where visual identity is increasingly used not just for branding, but to communicate purpose and mobilise action.
A design rooted in purpose
At the heart of the new look is a bespoke logo created through a national design competition in India, organised by Envision Energy India in collaboration with the International Advertising Association. From more than 100 entries, the winning design by Mumbai-based freelance designer Shibani Gharai was selected for its creativity and environmental symbolism.
Reflecting on her work, Gharai said: “When creativity meets purpose, it has the power to grow forests.”
Drawing inspiration from mangrove ecosystems—their roots, biodiversity and balance—the design brings a local story to a global platform.

Global platform, local impact
The logo will feature on Envision Racing’s cars for the remainder of Season 12 and throughout Season 13, debuting at the Berlin E-Prix. The exposure is significant, with Formula E reaching an audience of more than 560 million television viewers and 422 million fans worldwide.
Sylvain Filippi, Managing Director and CTO of Envision Racing, said: “This logo represents more than just a design – it’s a symbol of collective climate action. By featuring it on our race car, we are taking the message of the Sundarbans to a global audience.”
The approach underlines how sport can act as an amplifier—translating local environmental challenges into global awareness and engagement.

Protecting a critical ecosystem
Spanning India and Bangladesh, the Sundarbans is the world’s largest mangrove forest and one of the most climate-exposed regions globally. Rising sea levels, coastal erosion and increasingly severe storms are placing both ecosystems and communities under pressure.
Mangroves play a critical role in climate mitigation, storing up to four times more carbon than terrestrial forests while also acting as natural coastal defences. The restoration programme, delivered in partnership with Envision Energy India, Envision Racing and EARTHDAY.ORG, is designed to deliver both environmental and social impact.
Over five years, the initiative aims to support 18,000 women and 10,000 families through improvements in health, nutrition, sanitation and education.
RPV Prasad, CEO of Envision Energy India, said: “Partnerships like this demonstrate how technology, business and global audiences can work together to accelerate climate action with purpose.”

Engaging fans in climate action
Beyond the track, Envision Racing is extending the initiative through its ‘Sustainable Chain’ programme, encouraging fans to make personal pledges to reduce their carbon footprint. Actions such as cutting single-use plastics or choosing sustainable travel are linked to project updates and exclusive content.
The programme builds on previous activity, including the planting of more than 250,000 mangrove trees in Madagascar, demonstrating the power of collective action in driving measurable outcomes.
From visibility to impact
As sport continues to explore its role in addressing climate challenges, Envision Racing’s latest initiative highlights the potential to move beyond awareness towards tangible outcomes.
By combining global visibility with local action, the project reinforces a broader shift: from sustainability as messaging to sustainability as measurable impact—both on and off the track.
