The 2024 Global Sustainability Benchmark in Sport report has placed Formula E at the top of its rankings across Environmental, Social and Governance while German football club Borussia Dortmund was star in Corporate. The top three sporting entities were Formula E, Borussia Dortmund, and FC Porto.
The owner of Newcastle Falcons has reportedly decided to put Premiership Rugby club up for sale, as the sport’s financial sustainability woes continue. The Falcons failed to win a single game last season and just managed to avoid going out of business like other rugby clubs Wasps, London Irish and Worcester.
LIV Golf was recently named as one of 10 winners in 2024 of Front Office Sports’ Most Impactful Award, which recognises organisations that have used their power and platform to make an impact outside of driving revenue and growing their businesses.
The Oslo Bislett Games have become the first one-day event to achieve the highest sustainability standard from World Athletics. The Games Diamond League fixture earned platinum level recognition against the Athletics for a Better World Standard, an evaluation system implemented by World Athletics. Elsewhere, the World Athletics Council has committed to taking action against gender-based violence during its 236th World Athletics Council Meeting in Monaco earlier this week.
English League One football club Charlton Athletic has been selected by the English Football League (EFL) to lead an initiative aimed at increasing accessibility and inclusion across progressional football. The partnership will span a year and include a comprehensive research phase, followed by the implementation of the findings.
