RFEF approves environmental and sustainability strategy
The Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) has approved an environmental and sustainability strategy, as part of its candidacy for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation worked with the country’s Department of Social Responsibility and Sustainability to develop its Sustainability Strategy 2023-2027.
Aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the RFEF has marked priorities in areas such as climate change, the reduction and compensation of emissions, non-discrimination and inclusion policies, solidarity, and human rights.
Among the federation’s highest priorities include controlling and monitoring the consumption of water, energy and natural gas; promoting the efficient use of water; the measurement, reduction and compensation of its carbon footprint; adaptation to climate change and communication sustainability efforts.
The plan includes a monitoring programme that will help the federation to measure and fulfil its objectives.
