Wings of Survival: Racing with Nature to Reconnect Sport, Science and the Planet

There are endurance challenges, and then there are journeys that seek to change the way we see the world. Wings of Survival is firmly in the latter category. Launching on 29 July, conservation scientist Dr Timm Döbert and former Canadian decathlete Leanna Carriere will embark on a remarkable nine-month, 30,000-kilometre cycling expedition from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia, following the migration route of the threatened Hudsonian Whimbrel. It is believed to be the first time humans have physically followed the complete migratory path of a bird species, combining elite endurance sport, scientific research, conservation and education into one extraordinary initiative.
