Co-founder - "Wings of Survival"
Dr. Timm Döbert holds a PhD in Global Change Ecology from the University of Western Australia and an MSc in Tropical Ecology from the University of Otago. He researches the human footprint on natural ecosystems, underpinned by a drive to safeguard wild spaces and wildlife. Timm is a Member of the Explorers Club (MI ’12), a Royal Canadian Geographical Society fellow, a Scientific Exploration Society fellow, and a World Explorers Collective grantee. He serves as an International Union of Conservation (IUCN) commission member for the Commission on Education and Communication (CEC) and the World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA).
Timm is the founder of the Wings of Survival initiative, a three-part expedition series aimed at rewilding minds and planet across the world’s flyways. Each expedition follows the flightpaths of long-distance migratory birds, connecting continents, countries, and communities across the globe. The first expedition is from Alaska’s High Arctic to the southern tip of Patagonia, 30,000km in 9 months by bicycle and packraft. Impact initiatives include a professional film production, a virtual impact campaign, a scientific study on resilience, a youth education program, female empowerment grants, and workshops for athletes. Wings of Survival is a Global Sustainable Sport ‘Partner with Purpose’.
