Sports Director & Founder – Ni-Wakati Sports Africa
Hailing from a humble background, Steve’s Sports journey began in Primary School participating in Gymnastics and later in High School participating in Tennis & Table Tennis but couldn’t pursue a Professional career in Sports due to High Cost of Tennis Club charging Membership fees and costly Equipment’s.
With a burning desire to be involved in Sports and Physical Activity and empower Underserved marginalized communities where he grew up in Urban Nairobi& others in Satellite towns Kenya’s Capital He formed NI-WAKATI SPORTS AFRICA (Swahili Word meaning I’TS TIME) a Not For Profit Organization that Uses Multi-Sports as a Tool For Development to Foster Unity, Promote Sports& Physical Activity among Kids and young people and help tackle Social Challenges among communities and an Enabler of the UN Global SDG. Steve has an Ambitious goal of Developing a Multi-Sports Hub a Safe Space where Kids and Young people can access to a variety of Sports. He has introduced some new sports in Kenya to His Sports Program such as Pickleball,Dodgeball,FTA (Freestyle Trampoline), Jump-rope to make Sports more accessible to as many children and young people as possible.
He believes in DEI (Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity) in SPORTS & ACCESSIBLITY to ALL and EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO PLAY. The programs encourage Girls to Participate in Sports (Girls make 45%) and has women Coaches in most Sports Discipline. We also have persons with special need Playing Table tennis and Pickleball in our programs.
A Believer in Sustainable Sports Steve has participated in Webinars that advocate for Sustainability in Sports such as GSSport, UNDRR, Global S4d among others. Ni-WAKATI SPORTS also participates in Monthly Environment Clean Up Campaigns in various Nairobi Communities and River Clean Ups and Tree Planting Events.
Ni-Wakati has empowered underprivileged and AT RISK youth with Digital skills under a collaboration with Ajira Digital ( a Gvt program) where Ni-Wakati has invested 5 computers and WIFI and the government send trainers to train the youth on E-commerce, Remote jobs, and Life Skills like Teamwork and Discipline to break the cycle of poverty also by being enlisted as Volunteers in Sports Training they are able to earn allowances. Under Steve’s visionary leadership, the organization has impacted over 5,000 lives, fostering social cohesiveness, SPORTS EMPLOYABILITY and Life Skills Transfer to them

We are also planning Furahia Life(Enjoy Life) Marathon in 2025 a Collaboration with Grass roots Sports Organization.
