Session 1 – Protect Our Winters – Protect what we love!
We, at POW EU, have a simple purpose: to protect what we love! We envision a world where the outdoor community unites to confront climate change, ensuring the resilience of the environment for current and future generations. That’s quite big of us. In this workshop, we will go through how we (try to) achieve this and theorize how we pull the whole sports world into climate action.
Session 2 – How do we develop sustainable sporting events?
Delivering sustainable sporting events is high on the agenda of most host cities, events owners and organisers but what does a sustainable sports event look like and what are the challenges facing different levels of sporting events?
The session will look at the challenges facing our panellists as they seek to deliver sustainable outcomes for major multi-sport games, single sport championships and annual sporting events.
Session 3 – Race for the Amazon: A New Paradigm in Sports Events Integrated with Socio-environmental Initiatives.
This session presented by two climate scientists will explore issues like:
- Why is the Amazon so important for the planet and the people around the earth?
- How can sport help mitigate the climatic situation in the Amazon and contribute to curbing deforestation in the region?
- How can sport engage and support Indigenous people?
- What role can high-performance sport play in reducing the injustices and inequalities produced by humanity?
