Brendon Mandivenga
Sustainability Consultant - The Sports Effect
I grew up in Zimbabwe, where I fell in love with sports, especially rugby. That love took me to the Leicester Tigers Academy, which was a huge step in shaping my rugby career. From there, I studied at Loughborough University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Sports Science with Management—combining my passion for sport with some solid academic knowledge.
After graduating, I launched into a full-time rugby career that’s taken me to play in the UK, South Africa, Italy, and soon in France. One of the highlights of my journey has been playing for the Zimbabwe National Team and having the honor of captaining the squad in 2019.
Earlier this year, I had a setback when I tore my meniscus and was sidelined for a while. During recovery, I used the time to dive into a sports sustainability course with EcoSports, which sparked a new interest for me. Not long after, I joined The Sports Effect and have been working in their sustainability department for the past month and a half.
Now, I’m really excited to keep exploring how sports and sustainability can come together and see where this path leads me.
