World Netball launches Foundation to harness power of the sport for good
Netball’s international governing body, World Netball (WN), has launched a new charitable arm – the World Netball Foundation (WN Foundation).
The Foundation was launched ahead of the Netball World Cup 2023, which is currently taking place in Cape Town, South Africa. Its objective is to build on the promise made in WN’s 2021 strategy to use the power of netball to change lives.
World Netball will create new possibilities through netball via three interlinked strategies: individuals, communities and societies. The Foundation will collaborate with governments, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and local organisations to develop locally managed, sustainable programmes.
“We firmly believe in the power of our sport to transform lives."
WN President and WN Foundation Chair, Dame Liz Nicholl DBE, said: “The launch of the World Netball Foundation is a crucial step forward in our commitment to using netball as a vehicle to drive positive change around the world.
“We firmly believe in the power of our sport to transform lives, and through the World Netball Foundation we will be able to extend our reach and make an even greater impact on individuals, communities, and societies.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this journey and I look forward to seeing the World Netball Foundation flourish as it sets out to develop partnerships to support delivery of its ambitious strategy.”
