For this year’s edition, Haskins Sport Society, a student association based at the University of Lausanne, teamed up with the Freeride World Tour (FWT).

The successful applicants included TeamChristmas Tree, who finished top of the pile by focusing on an innovative, sustainable solution to attract more young girls to the discipline of freeriding. The ‘SEE IT, BE IT’ campaign was designed to create a safe and comfortable freeriding environment for girls by increasing the number and exposure of attainable role models.

Second-placed TeamCrown explored how to use virtual reality to bring freeriding closer to the fans and provide them with a taste of adrenaline without any risk, thereby creating a strong connection in the long run.

TeamMonkey, who finished third, suggested adding a mixed gender team event that would engage more women, promote inclusion and foster collaboration between athletes.

All three successful applicants will have the chance to develop their ideas with the support of the FWT.

Joris Vautier, the tour’s General Manager, said: “The students are the actors of tomorrow – that’s why we wanted to share the challenges we are facing with them and get to know their ideas.”

Jury member Dominik Pürro, Head of Federation Support at Swiss Olympic, added: “It was great fun to see so many motivated young people with excellent ideas.”
