Wings of Survival

Dr. Timm Döbert and Leanna Carriere are a Canadian couple with a shared passion for sport, science and nature – expressed through their Wings of Survival initiative. Together, they represent a range of exploration and sports-for-nature organisations, including the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, The Explorers Club, the Scientific Exploration Society, the World Explorers Collective, Global Sustainable Sport, and EcoAthletes.

Over the past four years, they have worked tirelessly on shaping Wings of Survival into a pioneering Athletes for Nature impact movement. On World Bicycle Day 2026 (3 June), the duo will set out on a world-first race with nature, a groundbreaking 30,000km, 9-month cycling expedition from Alaska to Patagonia, challenged by the world’s greatest endurance athletes: migratory birds. Their core motivation is the catastrophic collapse of nature, including the loss of 70% of global wildlife populations in merely 50 years, threatening the balance that sustains human life. Through an extreme sport challenge and creative storytelling, they aim to rewrite the story for people and planet.

Timm and Leanna believe that sport has the power to inspire action for transformative change. As catalysts for the greater good, they seek partners with purpose, who are keen to leverage the impact of Wings of Survival.
