Salpausselkä’s 100th anniversary competition is about winter sports, but also talks about the future of the earth
At the end of March, the world's top Nordic skiing athletes will compete in Salpausselkä ski competition for the 100th time. It is Finland's largest continuously organized sports event. However, Salpausselkä's 100th anniversary competition event is not just a celebration of top sports and entertainment.
The event respects the long traditions of the Salapusselkä games, creating experiences, community and feelings for the tracksides, home stands, volunteers and to whole Päijät-Häme. The competition promotes the well-being of competition guests, partners, athletes and local residents in many ways.
The organizers are also concerned that the games would still be able to be held after the next hundred years. That’s why a carefully delevopled responsibility plan has taken a long time to develop, and based on it, 100 acts of responsibility will be published gradually as the Salpausselkä event approach.
Related to theme, on the eve of the competition on March 23, a responsibility seminar called “The Next 100 Years: Future of Winter Sports” will be organized, where the future of winter sports will be discussed along with some notable names.
