Raiders’ Impact Playbook reveals sustainability drive
The National Football League’s (NFL’s) Las Vegas Raiders saved 535 million gallons of water and 46,460 pounds of grass clippings, while diverting 3.7 million pounds of waste from local landfill in 2024.
The franchise recently published its second Impact Playbook, which details the Raiders’, Allegiant Stadium’s and the Raiders Foundation’s sustainability, equity and community initiatives.
Last year’s environmental sustainability efforts also resulted in 74,973 watts of energy created by the cigarette waste-to-energy programme since its introduction; 73,460 pounds of rubber turf pellets diverted from the local landfill; and 747,580 pounds of food scraps collected and provided to local Las Vegas livestock farms.
Meanwhile, internal diversity at the Raiders ranked in the 90th percentile for representation among all NFL teams.
“Being part of the Las Vegas community is more than just convening on game day, it’s about consistently showing up for our community in the way they show up for us."
“Being part of the Las Vegas community is more than just convening on game day, it’s about consistently showing up for our community in the way they show up for us,” said Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan.
“Our owner, Mark Davis, has always said our commitment to this community goes far beyond the field. We are dedicated to growing Las Vegas into a global destination for sports and entertainment while staying true to the Raiders’ legacy of unity, excellence and service. It’s an honour to give back to a community that has given us so much.”
Allegiant Stadium was also recognised by the Green Sports Alliance in 2024 with two Play to Zero awards: the Energy Champion Award for 100% reduction/offsets and the Waste Leader Award for 50%+ diversion from landfills.
An additional 16 EV chargers were installed at the 65,000-capacity stadium in 2024, and the Raiders also extended its Sustainability Diversion Programme, which reuses unclaimed lost and found items, meals and goods donated to local non-profits.
The Raiders Organisation, which includes the Raiders Foundation, awarded more than $1.7m in grants and in-kind donations to local non-profits and educational programmes.
