Racing Towards Net Zero

You’ve got to be agile to win the race, knowing when to turn and when to put your foot down. That’s why we’re taking an agile approach to reaching our target, through all kinds of innovations and initiatives, including:

Switching to 100% renewable energy and electric vehicle charging by 2023

Throughout 2022 we will be installing 2764 solar power modules onto the roof of The Wing covering over 5200 m2 which will generate over 13% of the venue’s power. By the summer of 2023 we will be fully powered by renewable energy sources. Add in 30 EV charging points installed by the end of 2022 and you can see how our movement to greener energy is gathering pace.

Using low and zero carbon liquid fuels and gases for our facilities and vehicles

Using low and zero carbon liquid fuels and gases for our facilities and vehicles From now, we’re also switching all our temporary generators and the energy centre at The Wing to run on HVO bio fuel. This low carbon fuel source will help reduce the related Co2 emissions by 90%. We are also in the process of negotiating a new low-emission maintenance fleet, which should be in place by January 2023.
