Veolia North America has joined forces with Pickleball, the fast-growing sport that boasts over nine million active players in the US, by becoming the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour’s official sustainability provider.

The company, which offers a full spectrum of water, waste and energy management services, will help pickleball to be more environmentally friendly. At each of the tour’s stops, Veolia will work with the PPA to set up stations that will provide clean drinking water and minimise the use of plastic.

“We’re partnering with PPA and exploring ways to reduce the impact of public events so millions of people can continue to enjoy the thrill of sports while minimising their impact on the environment,” said Dave Ross, Chief Sustainability Officer for Veolia North America.

“We will start with improving waste collection, increasing recycling percentages, providing sustainable water refill stations and evaluating the carbon footprint of the PPA Tour. As a recent survey found, most organisations have sustainability goals but they don’t know how to achieve them. We can provide the ‘how’ as we do for clients all over the world.”

Connor Pardoe, Founder and Chief Executive of the PPA Tour, added: “Veolia is a perfect partner for the PPA Tour as a leader in innovation and transformation in the sustainability space.

“We are excited to collaborate with Veolia as we become increasingly environmentally conscious at our tournaments across the country and can think of no better partner with whom to champion this effort.”

The PPA Tour was founded in 2019, travelling to sporting venues across the US. It establishes player rankings, while also inviting amateur players to compete. The tour offers divisions for every age group and skill level, with each event focusing on fan experiences that include pro player meet-and-greets, food and beverage offerings, and live entertainment.
