GSSport24 Update – May 29, 2024
Global Sustainable Sport is delighted to announce the expansion of its GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series by merging the content from its postponed in-person congress into a series of FREE weekly online workshops to engage a truly international audience.
Starting in June and continuing until mid-July, GSSport24 will deliver a series of weekly online workshops covering a range of topics based around the GSS 7 Sustainable Pillars of Sport and Purpose and the workstreams that were planned for Munich.
To help accelerate the take-up of sustainability by sports organisations around the world the six-workshop series will be offered for free.

All speakers for the Munich congress will now participate in the online workshops including keynote speaker Petra Sörling, IOC Member, President – International Table Tennis Federation, Stephen Townley, Special Counsel, Sports & Entertainment Brands – Stobbs, Intangible Asset Management and Hugo Inglis, three-time Olympic Champion, Managing Director – High Impact Athletes.
The first online workshop on Tuesday, June 4th will feature four back-to-back sessions of 45 minutes each. Stellar speakers such as Daniel Cade from Responsible Sport, Nico Decurtins from The Sustainability Coach, and Leanna Carriere and Timm Döbert from Wings of Survival will kick off the series.
Workshop 2 on June 13th will include contributions from Gillian Rosh and Antoine Pin, from Protect our Winters Europe, Paulo Moutinho, IPAM Amazonia, and Roger de Moraes, ECEP.
Joining the line-up of speakers for Summer Workshop series are Chloe Sweden, Founder & CEO, Lowr, Rob Hartnett, Founder & CEO, Sport for Business, Emanuel Boscardin, Programme Officer, Sports for Nature & CEO, IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), Rory Squires, Director, Squires Media Limited, Birgit Ballhause, Manager, ACT AGENCY GmbH, Amy Hill, Co-Founder and Director, Podium.
We are delighted to welcome Wings of Survival, formed by Leanna Carriere (Canada’s first female decathlete) and Timm Döbert (global change scientist and explorer), to the GSS Partners with Purpose programme as Athlete Partners.
The aim of the project is to help sports organisations accelerate their sustainability programmes and we really thank all our speakers and partners for contributing their time and support to make this happen.
This project is all about bring the industry together to make a fundamental shift in how sport delivers significant social and environmental change to really make a difference and it is great to see so many people wanting to support and promote this initiative.
