From 17 to 19 July 2025, the three-day conference hosting around 400 participants from over 40 nations will take place in Jahrhunderthalle Bochum. Under the theme ‘Competing for change: exploring sustainability and (mental) health through sports’, scientists, researchers and students from all over the world will address current issues at the crossroads of (mental) health, ecological sustainability and sporting performance.
The conference considers itself an interdisciplinary platform for scientific exchange and discourse. It hosts keynote speeches, workshops and specialist presentations, which are supplemented by interactive live formats and panel discussions. This ensures that the topics covered are not only theoretically sound, but also practical and relevant to everyday life.
A special feature of the conference is its close proximity to sporting competitions taking place on the site at the same time - including 3x3 basketball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball. The event will also be enriched by a Ruhr Games 2025 supporting programme that is open to the public.
