Goodwood Partners with Train Hugger for Sustainable Travel

April 13 2023 - News Release News Editorial

Goodwood has partnered with Train Hugger, the green ticketing platform, as the official rail ticketing partner for all of its motoring events at the West Sussex Estate. For every rail ticket that is bought for travel to and from Goodwood events, Train Hugger will make a donation to Goodwood to be used as part of the Estate’s sustainability and tree planting initiatives.

The first event of the partnership is the Goodwood Members’ Meeting taking place over the weekend of 15/16 April, followed by the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard from 13-16 July and Goodwood Revival from 8-10 September.

Train Hugger works in partnership with the Royal Forestry Society and its 3,500-strong membership and pledges to plant a tree in the UK for every booking made via the app or website with the aim of planting 10 million trees by 2025. As Goodwood already has a successful tree-planting programme, it was the natural decision to use the Train Hugger funds to expand this initiative across the South Downs estate.

“This is a very worthy partnership for us and we applaud what Train Hugger is doing for the environment across the UK. We pride ourselves on our extensive sustainability strategy covering all aspects of the estate and its activities, and this new initiative is a welcome addition to our ultimate goal of becoming carbon neutral.” Dan Garlick, Goodwood’s Motorsport Event Director
“We are really excited about partnering with Goodwood. Goodwood has an incredible and longstanding commitment to sustainability, but equally importantly Goodwood stands for a great day out. We want people to take the train to Goodwood knowing that just by having a good time they're giving back to local wildlife.” Edmund Caldecott, CEO of Train Hugger

Goodwood’s sustainability strategy covers everything from farming with a self-sustaining and certified organic system and responsible forestry focused on continuous cover via natural regeneration to its events. It is focused on the six key priorities of natural capital, carbon, water, business, resources and social impact and remains alert and responsive to changing conditions and expectations. Further initiatives are planned to join those already in progress.

Goodwood customers can visit the Train Hugger website or download their Android or IOS app when making their travel plans.
