Global Sustainable Sport expands GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series with free weekly online sessions
LONDON (May 21): Global Sustainable Sport (GSS) today announced the expansion of its GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series by merging the planned content from its postponed in-person congress into a series of free weekly online sessions that will engage a truly international audience.
Starting next week and continuing until mid-July, GSSport24 will deliver a series of weekly online workshops covering a range of topics based around the GSS 7 Sustainable Pillars of Sport and Purpose, while the congress originally planned for Munich in June is postponed until 2025.
The first online workshop will feature four back-to-back sessions of 45 minutes each. Stellar speakers such as Daniel Cade from Responsible Sport, Nico Decurtins from The Sustainability Coach, and Leanna Carriere and Timm Döbert from Wings of Survival will kick off the series with essential insights during next week’s session.
Registration for this event, and all the upcoming weekly online workshops, will be free. The sessions will be fully interactive, allowing attendees to submit questions for participants to answer, strengthening connections at the heart of the sustainable sports movement.
“We have always said that GSSport24 is much more than just a one-off event, and our aim is to bring together the global sports community to share knowledge, ideas and experiences with each other and drive better outcomes through sustainability and purpose,” GSS CEO and Founder Mike Laflin said.
“It became clear in recent days that logistical issues outside our control would have compromised the event experience at the in-person congress in Munich. Given this, we took the proactive decision to postpone this year’s congress and expand our programme of online workshops instead, thereby amplifying the valuable perspectives of fantastic speakers who were due to join us in Munich.
“By opening up these online sessions for free to a global audience, we are making expert insights accessible to as many members of the international sports community as possible and gathering perspectives from across the globe – and that can only be beneficial in accelerating positive change worldwide.”
The initial six-week Summer Workshop Series will kick off a year-round programme of engagement that will feature a Winter Workshop Series that will start in October 2024 and run to the end of the year.
