Global Sustainable Sport delivers successful GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series with over 350 participants from 61 countries
Over the last seven weeks, Global Sustainable Sport (GSS) has delivered a series of workshops, the GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series, covering a wide range of subjects around sport and sustainability.
The workshop has engaged over 350 participants from 61 nations representing every sector of the sports industry, from global brands and international federations through to grassroots organisations and small foundations. Over 100 not-for-profits have participated in the free-to-attend workshops.
A huge thank you goes to the 50-plus speakers and panelists who have given up their time in the last seven weeks to share their knowledge and experiences with this global audience.
The world is faced with global problems like climate change, biodiversity loss, inequality, obesity and inactivity amongst the young. Global problems need global solutions and sport is well-placed to act as a catalyst for this challenge, engaging stakeholders, fans and athletes in thinking and acting more sustainably to provide a better future for sport and the planet.
The aim of the GSSport24 Summer Workshop Series was to help accelerate this process by sharing knowledge and information with a global audience, encouraging and inspiring more organisations to embed sustainably at their core.
Recordings for each of the 19 sessions are available through the GSSport24 section of the GSS website and on the links below.
The other aim of this workshop series was to act as a catalyst for on-going engagement and discussion through the GSS platform. With this in mind, GSS will be launching a series of new initiatives to help and support sports organisations and stakeholders on their sustainability journey.
Whether you are a major brand, a global sports organisation, a team, a league, a club, a venue, an event, a supplier, a broadcaster, a host city, a government agency, an athlete or a fan, everyone has a role to play in driving sustainability through sport.
GSS has identified in excess of 1000 organisations that are actively driving sustainability through sport as defined by GSS’s 7 Sustainable Pillars of Sport. These organisations will form part of the new GSS Network which will highlight those organisations that are actively developing their sustainability programmes.
Sustainability in sport is a broad concept and GSS will shortly be announcing its new GSS Educational Programme which will provide sports organisations with the tools and knowledge to drive sustainability within their organisations.
Global problems need global solutions and global actions.
