Global Sustainable Sport (GSS) is delighted to announce the first round of speakers for the GSSport24 programme platform, which includes the highly anticipated GSSport24 Congress in Munich on June 26-27.

The GSSport24 programme will encourage knowledge-sharing, education and networking through a series of online workshops, as well as the in-person GSSport24 Congress at Munich Olympic Park during the UEFA Euro 2024 football tournament.

Take advantage of the  ‘Early Bird’ registration to the GSSport24 programme before May 13 for the Munich Congress on June 26-27 and get free access to the first three workshops set to take place on May 28 and June 13.

Leading the discussions on day one of the Munich Congress will be IOC Member and International Table Tennis Federation President Petra Sörling, who will provide a keynote speech on sustainability and sport and embedding sustainability at the very core of an international organisation. She will be supported by Munich Olympic Park General Manager Marion Schöne, who will discuss sustainability at major sports events and Mike Laflin, CEO and Founder of Global Sustainable Sport, who will introduce the concept behind GSSport24 and how sports stakeholders can develop a broader, more holistic, understanding of the sustainable value of sport.

Day two will see Dr. Stephan Niederleitner from the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection, and Franziska Wenger, Project Manager, Blooming Golf Course, Landesbund für Vogelschutz who will will present a biodiversity programme developed between the Bavarian government and the Bavarian Golf Federation. They will be supported by Stephen Townley, from legal firm Stobbs, who will shine a spotlight on sustainability and environmental risk.

Theresa Zabell, double Olympic Champion and Founder and Chair of Ecomar, will also provide insights into her work to protect the oceans and develop kelp farms to help with de-caronisation, while three-time Olympic Champion Hugo Inglis, Managing Director of High Impact Athletes, will discuss how athletes can make a difference and help save lives. They will be supported by leading experts from all sectors of the sports industry, with more speakers to be announced shortly.

There are numerous examples of sports organisations driving change through their sustainability programmes, and the GSSport24 programme seeks to support this work through knowledge-sharing and education, providing regular workshops and in-person events, discussing different topics and themes around sport and sustainability.
