DC United teams up with sustainability partner Republic Services
Major League Soccer franchise DC United has sealed a multi-year partnership with Republic Services, a North American recycling and waste disposal organisation.
The Phoenix-based company will help to fund a donation box in partnership with ‘Leveling the Playing Field’, through which fans can donate lightly used sports equipment to be refreshed and distributed to under-resourced youngsters.
“DC United are thrilled to announce our partnership with Republic Services, whose commitment to sustainability is paramount to our club and our community,” said Jeffrey Ajluni, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at DC United. “Through our shared core values of improving the community, we will make Audi Field and Washington, DC a better place with reduced waste, renewable energy, and green space.”
Republic Services will receive prominent branding throughout Audi Field, as well as exposure across the club’s social and digital media channels.
Lisa Mears, General Manager of Republic Services Maryland, added: “We are proud to partner with D.C. United to help bring sustainability to Audi Field and the greater DMV. At Republic Services, we are focused on improving the communities in which we live and work. We believe it is essential to be integrated in these communities which we serve. Through our partnership, we hope to bring communities together through the love of soccer and renewable energy.”
