Ascot Racecourse gallops towards sustainability goals with carbon removals

According to reports, the British racecourse worked with Cur8, which provides products and services enabling carbon removals, to remove 138 tonnes and mitigate emissions generated by the Village Enclosure hospitality offering.

The move is part of Ascot’s ambitions to eventually achieve net-zero.

Last year, Ascot signed the United Nations’ Sport for Climate Action Framework, with the aim of reducing 50% of its carbon emissions by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2040.

“Sustainability is a key focus for us at Ascot and we have made great progress to reduce our carbon footprint in the past few years, including the launch of our Net Zero Village Enclosure for the first time in 2023,” said Jonathan Parker, Managing Director of 1711 by Ascot.

“An enormous amount of research and planning went into that project and the learnings will help us immensely as we build towards a sustainable future.”

Last year also saw the racecourse release its 2022 ‘Racing to Zero’ report, which demonstrated its progress towards reaching its sustainability goals.
