Across its brands, Amer Sports provides apparel, footwear and equipment catering for a number of sporting activities. While promoting health and a love for nature, Amer’s Sustainability Report goes one step further to demonstrate its efforts and targets during 2023.

Last year also saw the company conduct a human rights impact assessment to identify the most pressing sustainability issues across its operations and value chain.

Amer Sports has committed to having its net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), while two of its brands Arc’teryx and Salomon have already previously set science-based emissions reduction targets, approved by the SBTi. Amer has further achieved ‘B’ score on the CDP climate questionnaire over the last two years.

Not only did the company commit to the UN Global Compact, but it also joined the World Federation of Sports Goods Industries.

“In 2024, we will continue to focus on our high-priority topics and understand their impacts, risks, and opportunities even better,” says Tea Lindfors, Senior Sustainability Partner for Amer Sports.

Last year, Salomon launched the latest version of its recyclable running shoe, the INDEX.03, building on the original INDEX model released in 2021. The latest model includes a lighter midsole material, 100% recycled polyester for the tongue and better way to cut the upper parts. This has resulted in a reduction of wasted material from 40% to 26%.

Salomon also introduced its first recyclable winter sports helmet, while Wilson launched its first-ever 3D Airless prototype basketball.

Moving forward, Amer Sports is working to renew its Code of Conduct, update its Ethical Policy (Supplier Code of Conduct) and add a new Human Rights Policy, Circularity Policy and Environmental Policy.
